The beauty of a landscape, the sound of a voice, the smell of fresh bread, the taste of ripe fruit or the warmth of the sun’s rays – pleasure is delighting our eyes, ears, nose, tongue and skin. A delight for our senses. The diversity of pleasure knows no boundaries. Sometimes it is free, like a breath-taking sunset.
Sometimes wickedly expensive, like a dip in the Infinity Pools on the 26th floor of the sail-shaped W Hotel, Barcelona.
Turning our attention to culinary delights, we simply cannot forget to mention one of the oldest bodegas, ‘La Puntual’, as well as the small cups of pleasure served at the urban coffee shop, Nømad Every Day.
A love of flavour can develop into an international career, as was the case with passionate pasta-eater and director, David Gelb. With his prize-winning documentary series, Chef’s Table, the 33-year-old brings the charisma of extraordinary chefs to millions of screens worldwide.
Many of these superheroes, as Gelb calls them, are special guests at the anniversary celebration of The World’s 50 Best Restaurants, the most important accolade in the restaurant and gastronomy scene. Together with their partner Miele, they celebrate a passion for higher pleasure in the Catalan metropolis.
Amongst the numerous guests lapping up the views across the Port of Barcelona from the Bravo24 restaurant are gourmets, food journalists, and flavour visionaries such as René Redzepi, Joan Roca, Massimo Bottura, Daniel Humm and Ferran Adrià.
